XTiger XML editing with AXEL demos

This page shows some examples of editing applications created with XTiger XML document templates. Each link opens a document template which is turned into an XML editor with AXEL Javascript code. In some cases, the document is also loaded with XML data coming from an external file. You can edit it, then using the menu bar, you can dump the current target XML content. The save button works only in case the demos are run from a WebDAV server (which is not the case on media.epfl.ch).

AXEL is beeing developped with Firefox. We do our best efforts to test it on Safari, Internet Explorer (versions 8) and Opera. The library is still under development and not all templates work on all browsers.

As you are using Internet Explorer the page has been changed on the fly to alter all the links to XHTML documents into links to HTML documents served with the text/html MIME-Type (hopefully IE supports XHTML 1.0 in HTML compatiblity mode). This is necessary because Internet Explorer is not compliant with Web standards as it does not recognize the XHTML application/xhtml+xml MIME-Type.

• Curriculum shows a curriculum vitae
• Carte (*) shows a restaurant menu card (photo upload not functional in this demo)
• Cafe (*) shows a page that describes a bar or a restaurant
• Article is the template used to write XML Prague 2010 article on AXEL and XTiger XML. It works with an image filter which must be packaged inside the library. It also works with a wiki filter to allow simple formating in paragraphs and to enter hypertext links
• Projet shows a student project description such as the one displayed at MEDIA student projects
• Publications shows a bibliography
• Taches shows a basic project task management record; in French
• Tickets shows a basic ticket for a bug or feature tracking system
• Story shows an experimental template with an input filter that allows user's input to change the style of the document. It also uses the image filter that supports DnD on Firefox (3.6). Such template could be used to create pages in a Wiki for instance. It opens with a document that includes images on the Web, so you must have your Internet connection turned on.
• Tutorial shows a tutorial with all the different kind of editors supported with the core library
• Workpackage shows a European Project Workpackage description template, currently the default wp1.xml shows an XSLT generated view of a document created with this template, ready to be included in a project proposal.
• HTML Editing shows an experimental XHTML documents that you can edit with an generic Web page template by following the edit link

Each of these templates generates a different XML content model. You may read the XTiger XML Language specification if you want to learn how to create templates for your own XML content model.
